Haglund’s deformity is a bony growth that develops on the back of the heel bone. It is often referred to as a bump. This condition causes particular discomfort when footwear fits tightly around the foot, making wearing shoes and walking quite painful.
The main cause of pain is constant mechanical irritation. The bony growth continually rubs against the back of the shoe and presses on the Achilles tendon. This pressure leads to severe inflammation and bursitis, which involves fluid accumulation around the tendon and makes everyday movement significantly more difficult.
